Pleasantly Surprised

I hate mopping floors and pretty much my whole downstairs is tile except for my bedroom. I saw the Secura steam mop on sale and figured for the price and the previous reviews I would take a chance. Assembly was easy–one screw to attach the head to the body–and I was ready to go. Placed the microfiber pad over the head and tightened the cord. Then I vacuumed/swept the tile floor in my bathroom. Added R/O water to the tank filling to the maximum level and plugged in the mop. The red light was on (for heating) and 20-25 seconds later, the green light said we were ready for business. I pushed the “ON” button and heard the “sssss” of steam. At first I kept holding the “ON” button on, but found out later that I didn’t need to hold the button “ON.” You just push it “ON” and it stays on and then just push it again to shut it off.

Pushing the steam mop was a little hard at first until I had the right angle and rhythm, and then it was easy. I started with the steam setting on low and then increased it to medium. Worked great! What I was so surprised about was how the head of the mop swiveled so I could get into the corners. I actually could get in close to the toilet (which the floor can get pretty scary) and steam that area. When finished I had only used about a 1/3 of the water in the tank.

Next I started on the rest of the tile downstairs. Again vacuumed the tile, filled up the tank on the steam mop, plugged it in and when the green light came on started mopping. Worked like a charm and was able to do the rest of the downstairs with no refills on the tank. I increased the steam setting to about medium high, because we have dogs and our major walking areas get lots of use. As I worked the larger area, I would have to unplug and replug in the mop because the cord wasn’t long enough. But then again I would have needed a 30-40 foot cord. This did not affect the steam mop–just turned it off, plugged it into the next outlet, turned it back “ON” and the steam was there ready to go. In areas that were really dirty, I increased the steam to high. I didn’t notice much streaking and it dried pretty fast. The floors haven’t looked this good in a very long time!

I have only used this one, but will use it more and update this review in about a month or so. Plan to use it at least once a week which is amazing as I hate to mop floors!

Excellent Product!

I’ve had my mop for almost a month now and have used it several times and I’m very happy with it. It has all the features I was looking for in a steam mop which were: adjustable steam, ability to do rugs, good sized water tank, and light weight. This mop really delivers the cleaning power I need on a variety of surfaces. I have real wood floors predominately and a couple rooms of vinyl flooring, and a dozen area rugs. The mop cleans and sanitizes every surface perfectly and with an amazing ease of use. I’m able to do 1000 square feet of flooring with just one fill of the water tank. The carpet tray is the best thing ever and does a great job of sanitizing my area rugs, makes them look great too since the steam really fluffs out the fibers. It doesn’t get the rug soaking wet either, which is very nice. On the wood and vinyl floors the mop cleans like a demon. I thought my floors were clean until I used this mop on them and I was shocked at how much dirt came up! Shocked and embarrassed! This is one of those products that make you realize how inadequate older floor cleaning methods really are. So now my floors are much cleaner and my rugs are looking and smelling great with this mop.(read more)

Easy to use.

Steam mop is amazing, my floor has never been so clean before. I was so excited to receive this steam mop, used it immediately on my kitchen floor. It removed the stains that had been there for years. The maximum steam is very powerful, put it on the tough stains and move around a little bit, the stains disappear in seconds. I hate to get on the floors to do leaning and mop only does a so so job, but this steam mop made my floor sparkling clean without the hard work. Now I steam my hard floors at medium to low steam after vacuum my house. House cleaning becomes easy now.

I heard some of the steam mops were plagued by short life. I have used this mop for only 2 months and not able to comment on the quality. I will come back to update if anything changes.(read more)
